I have been a trained goldsmith and experienced and creative designer since 1981, applying a new, modern approach to jewelry design and manufacture.Over a period of 12 years, I have worked exclusively for an international leader in the fashion jewelry sector, engaged in the design and creation of computer-aided and 3D designs in industrial jewelry development and manufacturing. Over this time, my passion has been to produce "unworkable,” beautiful and intricate designs and their implementation under the motto: "Nothing is impossible.” At this point, I am determined to convince the real jewelry industry with my high-quality services, which encompass the production of CAD designs, the creation of 3D files with extremely precise and clean geometries for prototyping, photo-realistic images and videos. I see myself not only as a service provider to jeweler manufacturers, but also to end customers and jewelry lovers, whom I encourage to trustfully share any ideas and wishes with me - no matter how seemingly extravagant. I regard every piece of jewelry as an unmistakable original. Therefore, I design and build any type of CAD jewelry, ranging from simple pieces to sophisticated and very elaborate jewelry designs, without resorting to ready-made templates or 3D libraries. With my know-how as a goldsmith and CAD specialist, I seek to help jewelers, as well as jewelry designers, manufacturers and lovers in developing their unique creations and making their most daring dreams come true. What others say: …möchte ich Ihnen für ihre brillante Arbeit gratulieren. Ich schätze ihre wunderbare Arbeit. (Alexandros H. - Client) We would like for you to know this CAD work is some of the best that we have seen. (Susan K. - Head of CAD/CAM services at Gem Privé) Othmars work is good and of very high quality… …rendering/3d model making is at a high level. (Dennis S. - Judge for Snakes&Sapphires design contest) …your design met all of these criteria and surpassed the other models. My extravagant and extraordinary jewelry design stands for individuality, which underlines the poignant allure of modern, confident women. The relationship with a piece of jewelry is akin to love at first sight. At first, people become fascinated and even enamored by its mesmerizing beauty. Little by little, that sought-after jewelry piece makes you fall completely under its spell. Nothing compares to the allure of a woman who finally wears her treasured piece of jewelry. After nearly two decades of experience as a designer for a leading international fashion jewelry manufacturer, I can confidently apply new technologies and innovations to real jewelry, which allow for the development of disruptive design approaches. Let yourself be enchanted by the magic of my jewelry designs. During form-finding, every single piece of my creations goes through an intense and emotional process, which yields a captivating balance of extravagance, exoticism and elegance. My inspiration emerges from the infinite variety, beauty and lavish richness of nature. Let yourself be inspired. Share with me your ideas and let us work together on a distinctive piece of jewelry just for you.
Modern computer-based 3D CAD jewelry development is an extremely accurate and versatile tool for the creative art of producing unique jewelry pieces. Today, progressive technology development allows completely new design approaches to the development of custom pieces, the production of which would have been challenging or outright impossible through traditional goldsmith's art. I specialize in designing and producing computer-aided and 3D designs for jewelry designers, jewelers and manufacturers, also based on their own ideas and specifications. My professional and creative approach relies on the 3D design software Rhinoceros®, which allows me to design your unique jewelry pieces exactly as you or your customer have devised. Working closely with you to understand your ideas and intended implementation, I can produce individual pieces or entire jeweler collections. Trust my art to turn any imaginable creation into reality, no matter what style or use of precious stones and metals you favor. Moreover, piece costs can be precisely calculated based on ready-designed 3D files. I can share my own digital 3D files in .stl-format.
The realistic representation of the 3D file allows very easy to determine where changes are needed. Would you like to present your jewelry design or collection in web-ready HD pictures or video? Leave it to me: I can accurately represent any desired metals, textures and precious stones. Place your photo-realistic 3D representations on your website, catalog, press releases, ads, etc., avoiding those expensive photo shoot sessions altogether. Rendered images and videos convey your products in a visually appealing and impressive fashion. Check my collection for some examples. Please note that all renderings shown on my website are my own designs and thus subject to copyright. I can guarantee absolute discretion in the handling of your designs and styles. If need be, I will gladly enter into confidentiality agreements.
Once complete, I can pass 3D designs for wax plotting to appropriate partners if so desired. The precision achieved by CAD technology would be impossible to achieve in the production of the wax model by hand. The modern 3D printing process makes possible wax models with an excellent surface quality and to an accuracy of up to 0.00025in. A special wax is used which is not subject to thermal expansion and completely burns out at normal burn-out temperatures. Therefore, the models can be handled by each foundry as a normal wax model. No special burn-out parameter must be observed and the wax models thus produced can be embedded together with all other conventional casting wax.
On your request, I facilitate making your jewelry pieces in the desired materials. The use of the latest technologies from design creation to the production of originals allows almost limitless possibilities in shaping your unique creation. Best quality is paramount to design, engineering and manufacturing. Therefore, all exclusive jewelry and collections are produced in close cooperation with selected goldsmiths and gemstone-setters.
With this download, you receive an unlimited usage right¹ for this file. Simply plot it out in wax and send it to a moulding company that you trust. See how simple and cost-effective your production can be in the future. What do you get? The compressed (.zip) file contains 3 parts of the heart locket from the "Viennese Baroque" examples in stereolithographic format (.stl), the upper part, the lower part and the Collon. Inside there is a small hook which locks when the locket is closed. Here you can hang small objects (e.g. pictures, set stones) and change them according to desire and mood, these hide amongst intertwined vines and shimmer mysteriously through them. To be able to see the file on your computer, you need an 3D program installed. If you do not have one, you can download and install one of this free 3D viewers instead. For Mac: Free Stl-Viewer for Mac For Windows: Free Stl-Viewer Weight and dimensions: Length: 31,16 mm (without Collon) Width: 36,22 mm Height: 17,40 mm Weight: 23,97 g (in 14k yellow gold)

Wonderful jewellery from a computerFantastic, other worldly creations. Since November 2015, Othmar Wicke has used a computer to design and construct jewellery which could not be finished using traditional goldsmith techniques. Imagination knows no limits. Wicke artistically transforms the most unusual ideas into virtual models from manufacturers and jewellery lovers alike who want their personal design wishes realised. These can be visualised in a photo-realistic way even before their realisation and the weight can be calculated precisely. The file is then brought to life by 3D printing e.g. in wax. Using the lost wax technique, the piece of jewellery is cast in any desired precious metal. Finally, the surface treatment by the goldsmith and setting of the stone completes the production process. In order to familiarise potential customers with the benefits of this process, Wicke has created a complex 3D model, which can be downloaded by any interested party for their own use without charge and license-free from his website (www.othmar-wicke.at). In doing so, experts not only have the opportunity to learn about the benefits of this way of working, but also get to see that jewellery from a computer does not have to look like "computerised jewellery". Wicke explains that: "A computer is a tool for me the same as a hammer, tongs, or a file, except it is much more complex. Mastering a 3D program on a computer means nothing more than mastering the use of conventional tool. Mastery in both leads to a piece of jewellery that is fascinating and "inspiring". Just like a handmade piece of jewellery receives its soul through the expert use of tools, the same process takes place in the masterful use of 3D software." Wicke continues: "The difference is that it takes longer to learn how to use software correctly than it does to use conventional tools." Othmar Wicke was born on 12 February 1962 in Vienna. Early on he discovered his talent and passion for drawing. This was followed by eight years of primary school which he completed alongside learning to play the violin to concert level. During this time he supplemented his pocket money with one or two drawings (caricatures). In 1976 during a short period at the Higher Graphic Federal Training and Research Institute, he completed a training course as a gold and silversmith. He completed his apprenticeship with Alexis Reiss and the jewellers Langhans & Zipper. During this time, Wicke started to create his first wax models that enjoyed great popularity straight away. After 7 years he moved to Walter Krug, the jeweller, where he had the opportunity to concentrate on one-off products in addition to creating wax models. The business was shut in 1993 soon after the death of his employer. As a result he decided to turn his passion for cycling into a career and worked for the courier service "Blitz-Kurier" for a few months. In early 1994, he started to work as a goldsmith and designer for the fashion jewellery company "Pierre Lang". Here he learnt many new techniques for creating jewellery models that went far beyond simple "wax carving". Despite the interesting work at "Pierre Lang", after 4½ years he decided to start his own business as an illustrator, animator and cartoonist in 1999. At the same time he also learnt how to use vector-based graphics and animation programs on the computer. He brought light into the hard life of an illustrator with small successes such as coming top for individual animations in international competitions and completing assignments for clients such as "Siemens" and "Warner Bros.". In 2003, he decided to start work again at "Pierre Lang". This time he had the opportunity to work with the 3D design program "Rhinoceros". He learnt to use the program very quickly after setting out to build all types of jewellery designs, without exception, using the software. Soon after, he successfully developed and headed the CAD/CAM department for the company. There he gained 12 years of exclusive and intensive experience with 3D software for designing jewellery on a computer. In his opinion there are endless jewellery design possibilities available through the masterful use of these types of programs. In addition to the many classic working techniques associated with computer technology such as copy-and-paste, mirroring and scaling, there are virtually no limits when it comes to form-finding and design. Unlike the manual production of wax models in the past, the CAD models can be plotted in wax with unmatched precision to then be cast in any precious metal through the lost wax technique in the same way as conventional wax models. The tiniest details can be realised in this way. With a thickness layer of up to 0.013 mm for plotting, almost anything is possible. The inspiration for his unusual creations comes from the wealth of shapes used in nature. Through his love for bizarre shapes and structures, even "ordinary" things such as plants, fish or other animals get a mystical and magical touch. As a result, influences from fantastic realism from his Viennese school and surrealism should not simply be dismissed. Wicke said: "In the connection between dreams and reality, I find an analogy to the virtual creation of a piece of jewellery and its existence in reality. What the wearer of my jewellery actually gets is the miracle of wearing a dream. " About Othmar Wicke CAD Jewellery Designer: Othmar Wicke CAD Jewellery Designer specialises in the design, planning, development and construction of jewellery with the help of 3D software.
